The New York State Deputies Association, Inc. (NYSDA) was formed to represent and protect the unique interests of Sheriffs employees. Over the years NYSDA has grown to become an important voice for law enforcement in New York State. We offer various levels of service to member associations. Our basic level gives the association a seat and a vote on the state board, and allows them a voice in NYSDAs direction. Meetings are held in Albany during the legislative session, and in various locations throughout the state during other times of the year. Those associations which choose the full service level of membership get all of the benefits of basic membership. In addition, these members receive on site assistance with contract bargaining, arbitrations and disciplinary matters. The NYSDA representative will act as either the chief spokesperson, or will remain in the background simply as an advisor. This choice is made by the local association. NYSDA has become active in pursuing legislation that will benefit our members and the law enforcement community as a whole. We retain a full time lobbyist in Albany, who ensures that matters of importance in law enforcement are kept on the front burner in the state capital. Meetings are held throughout the state during the year, and member organizations are invited to attend and share information on new ideas and programs. NYSDA also offers seminars on topics such as collective bargaining, contract administration, 207-c cases, and Civil Service Law. These seminars are free to members. NYSDA is constantly striving to improve its services. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Executive Director Tom Ross at (585) 247-9322. |
